Show information:

·         The all new Top Gear Live theatre show is set to wow motoring fans in four continents around the world.

·         Jeremy Clarkson & Richard Hammond plus members of the Top Gear production team bring elements of the TV show to life as a 75 minute larger-than-life motoring theatre experience with the thrills and spills of stunts and special effects.

·         The Top Gear Live theatre show will comprise up to 16 different scenes or sequences, with Top Gear presenters playing host and in the spirit of the ‘ambitious but not always successful’ Top Gear style, undertaking a number of motoring-centered activities to amuse visitors.

·         Segments will feature breath-taking stunts and driving sequences from some of the world’s best precision drivers plus live versions of regular formats of the Top Gear programme.

·         Greg Murphy joins Clarkson and Hammond as the New Zealand-based third presenter on stage.

·         Top Gear Live is creating a 3,000 seat stadium and stage at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane especially for the show.

·         Adjacent to this will be a hall featuring a showcase of top luxury  and performance motor vehicles, including Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Jaguar and Porsche.

·         Top Gear Live premiered in the UK with sell-out shows in London and Birmingham. Next stops are Dublin, Johannesburg, Sydney, Auckland and Hong Kong, with dates shortly to be announced across the Middle East and Europe.

·         Top Gear Live will be an annual event with more countries added to the bill each year.

·         Each leg of the tour consists of 10 shows – meaning that Top Gear Live will be seen more than 100 times throughout the duration of tour.  More than 300,000 visitors from around the globe will experience the excitement and drama of the world’s most famous motoring brand – first hand.

 What You See

Probable stunts and attractions for the New Zealand leg of Top Gear Live include:

THE COOL WALL

Ever found yourself shouting at the TV when Clarkson lays into a car you love? Ever wished you could agree with Hammond championing the Porsche 911, or try and have the Aston DB9 removed from the Sub Zero section of the cool wall? At this year’s Top Gear Live the voice of the people will be heard as the audience debate with the presenters who’s makes it on to The Cool Wall.

Following the successful road test on the programme of the little Peel car, the producers of the show have challenged the presenters to go and make a car as small as possible. Then the boys decide the winner with some laps of a course. The results are hilarious and there are important lessions learned!

SPYDER SEQUENCE

Three Ferrari 360 Spyders shriek around the arena in a heart stopping display of inch-perfect driving.

CAR SKITTLES

Top Gear has invented a new sport: Car Skittles. The rules are simple; one poor presenter sits in a modified shopping trolley whilst Jeremy nuzzles up behind them in a small electric golf kart. Ahead of them are set eight giant skittles – you can guess what happens next.

NINJA MONARO

A small but highly skilled female ninja battles a huge V8 ninja car.

INTERACTIVE Top Gear LAP

The audience will attempt a lap of the famous Top Gear test track. A photo of one audience member is taken by Jeremy, who represents that audience’s time on our new lap board. After lots of shouting and steering, their time is immortalised forever – but are they fast enough to claim the top spot?

CAR DRUM KIT

On Top Gear we like drumming. And we like smashing up cars. So we decided to build ourselves a giant car drum kit. Every part is from a car, from carbon fibre air intakes to exhaust and boot carpets. We then bring on Mark Parnell to see if he can make it work.

CAR PORN

A parade of the very best supercars.

CAR FOOTBALL

We play football with little cars. Some crashing might happen.

3D APACHE

One of the most famous road tests on Top Gear was when Jeremy tried to avoid missile lock from an Apache gunship for 1minute around our track. We recreate that famous battle inside the arena, with a giant 3D Apache helicopter and the diminutive Lotus Exige. Can the Lotus stay out of the way of the sidewinder missiles long enough?

Top Gear Live will hit New Zealand shores February 12th – 15th, 2009 at the ASB Showgrounds, Auckland
