A PIR sensor is the best sensor to use to protect the rear of vans or trucks as it uses infrared to detect body heat and movement.

Standard alarm sensors, such as shock sensors, will not be able to protect the entire vehicle adequately which is why we recommend always fitting a PIR sensor to a van or truck (especially if you are carrying gear in the back).

This 360 degree PIR sensor is especially designed for trucks that regularly carry full loads. Because it is mounted on the roof of the truck it looks down and out, not just across like a standard PIR sensor. This allows the sensor to detect body heat and movement across the entire area.

All AVS PIR sensors also differ from standard home alarm sensors because they use a unique four element PIR which makes them more stable in the variable heat conditions inside a vehicle (a standard PIR sensor fitted into a vehicle can be prone to false triggers).

This sensor can be added as an optional upgrade to any 12 volt AVS car alarm.
