FORD F150 Lightning

Ford F150 2004 5.4L Super Charged V8 truck. This is America's most popular vehicle. This vehiclle has been upgraded from the 18" wheels to 24" which will be soon to be slammed out on airbags. We set out to make this the loudest demo car in the scene in NZ on display. We can pull up to any outdoor event or function and provide knockout sounds and PA on board.

We started in the front of the vehicle by fitting a Alpine 7" screen with a DVD. At the back of the seat we also fitted a JBL 8" Cannon to supply some bottom end bass inside. The design to open up from the rear to supply sound up to the length of a football field for crystal clear sound, run down as follows:

  • Fitted to the rear are four JBL Power 15" Woofers running off a JBL BPX2200 Digital Power Amplifier, this would supply a minimum of 550 watts RMS to each sub. The box that we have designed which was one end of the box open ended and the port to the rear of the box. Will not run into the design of this box as it is too complicated to describe.
This is a very simple layout of the woofers as in we are only running one Amp to power the bottom end hearing this would blow you out of the water. Unlike most demo cars on the market they seem to run multi amplifiers to their sub woofers to give them enough bottom end. Unfortunately this is incorrect, it comes down to a couple of factors which would be box design and the configuration of your amp, the right amp for the application . The rear of the vehicle we fitted for the mids and tweeters eight JBL 8" speakers.

To power these 8" speakers we ran a JBL BP300.4 Amplifier which would run into each speaker 100 RMS, yet again configuring this amplifier correctly will power the JBL 8" speakers more than adequately. In the rear of the top for display purposes we fitted a mirror and a 15" motorised screen. This is a very basic system with only running two amplifiers, you may not think it would be loud but seeing and hearing this vehicle decimates all cars in NZ.
